Highly Recommended Reading
In my studies I have read many different books on how dogs learn. I can't tell you how much it has helped me in understanding why dogs do what they do, how to get them to do what I want them to do and most imporantly, what motivates them. Reading, in addition to training with other trainers, helped me in a way that just studying under another trainer couldn't do. If you are interested in taking your relationship with your pup to a higher level then these books are ones that you will want to read. They are easy to understand and fun. I have put them in the what I believe to be the order of importance, but feel free to start with any of them.
Simple, Effective Training Tips
When using any of the exercises below you only need to do them for short periods of time. In fact I recommend 3 to 4 training sessions a day at 30 seconds a piece.
I am a firm believer that training can be simple and extremely effective at the same time. In fact I have seen, numerous times, just how effective the training practices I teach truly are and I have been amazed at how quickly a dog will get it more times then I can express. The most important thing to remember is to have FUN with your training sessions and enjoy your pup! That is after all why you got them, right?!
